National Interest Waiver for Physicians
A foreign physician who is willing to practice full time in an area designated by the Secretary of Health and Human Services as having a shortage of health care professionals or in a facility operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs may obtain a waiver of the job offer requirement that applies to alien beneficiaries of the second preference employment-based immigrant visa petitions. The physician must meet certain requirements in order to receive such waiver. Once the physician has completed the requirements, he or she will receive adjustment to lawful permanent residence status.
